Detailed Kenya Northern Circut Safari Day Wise Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Nairobi – Gateway to the Wild
Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be met by your warm and professional Olanka Safaris driver-guide. After a short briefing, enjoy a relaxed drive to your Nairobi city accommodation for an overnight stay. Depending on your arrival time, you may opt for a visit to the Giraffe Centre or Karen Blixen Museum, or simply unwind and prepare for your Nothern Kenya and Rift Valley safari adventure ahead.

Day 2: Nairobi to Ol Pejeta – Conservation Meets Luxury
After an early breakfast, you’ll journey from Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy at the foot of Mt. Kenya. This sanctuary is home to the last two northern white rhinos on earth. Enjoy a morning game drive in Ol Pejeta through the vast open plains, spotting black rhinos, chimpanzees, and big cats. After lunch, head out for an afternoon game drive in this well-protected and action-packed reserve.

Day 3: Into the Wild North – Samburu National Reserve
Depart for Samburu National reserve, a rugged and remote reserve in Kenya’s northern frontier. The terrain changes dramatically to semi-arid savannah, dotted with doum palms and dramatic riverbanks. Arrive in time for lunch, then set out on an afternoon game drive in search of the Samburu Special Five — Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, and reticulated giraffe.

Day 4: Samburu – Culture and Wildlife Combined
Begin with a morning game drive in Samburu, when wildlife is most active and increasing your chances to spot the big cats making a kill. Track lions along the Ewaso Nyiro River and enjoy rare sightings of leopards lounging in acacia trees. After a relaxed lunch, head out for your afternoon game drive with an optional cultural safari in Samburu which includes a visit to a Samburu village for a cultural interaction and storytelling around traditional ways of life focusing on the Samburu People.

Day 5: Scenic Rift Journey – Samburu to Lake Nakuru
Leave the dry north and travel south into the lush Great Rift Valley. Arrive in Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch. Later in the day, enjoy an afternoon game drive along the lake shores, famed for flamingos, white & black rhinos, and tree-climbing lions.

Day 6: Into the Savannah – Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara
After breakfast, depart for a scenic drive from Nakuru to Maasai Mara. Arrive at your Mara safari lodge or tented camp in time for lunch. In the afternoon, head out into the golden savannah for your first taste of this iconic reserve’s wildlife – lions, elephants, zebras, and more awaits.

Day 7: Maasai Mara – Safari Dreams Come True
Rise early for a morning game drive in Masai Mara, when predators hunt and prey grazes freely. Spend your afternoon enjoying another thrilling game drive in this untamed wilderness. Optional activities include a hot air balloon ride over the Mara at sunrise or a cultural visit to a Maasai village to learn about their rich traditions and dances.

Day 8: Farewell from the Wild – Back to Nairobi
