HELLS GATE AND OLKARIA GEOTHERMAL SPA DAY TRIP
Hell's Gate National Park lies south of Lake Naivasha in Kenya, north west of Nairobi. Hell's Gate National Park is named after a narrow break in the cliffs, once a tributary of a prehistoric lake that fed early humans in the Rift Valley. It was established in 1984. A small national park, it is known for its wide variety of wildlife and for its scenery. This includes the Fischer's Tower and Central Tower columns and Hell's Gate Gorge. The national park is also home to five geothermal power stations at Olkaria. It is called a geothermal hot spa because of the hot water (hot steam that cools in the collecting pipes) that is collected from the various wells within the plant and emptied into the pool. The temperature of the main pool ranges between 30 and 40 degrees centigrade. It is about one and a half hours drive from Nairobi (Approximately 120Km) & 2hrs drive from Nakuru town (Approximately 102km).

Hell's Gate exploration & Geothermal Activities
Morning: Departure & Hell’s Gate Adventure
Depart from Nairobi or Naivasha early in the morning and arrive at Hell’s Gate National Park. Begin your adventure with guided hiking through the scenic gorges, cliffs, and geothermal landscapes of the park. For thrill-seekers, enjoy rock climbing at Fischer’s Tower, one of the park’s most iconic formations.
Late Morning: Game Viewing & Cycling
Hop on a bicycle for a cycling safari through Hell’s Gate, spotting zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and other wildlife along the way. Explore the park’s diverse ecosystems while taking photographs and enjoying the open-air trails.
Midday: Picnic & Leisure
Pause for a picnic at one of the designated scenic picnic sites, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and lush landscapes. Enjoy light refreshments and soak in the natural beauty.
Afternoon: Olkaria Hot Spa
After your adventure, head to Olkaria Hot Spa to unwind. Take a soothing dip in the natural geothermal pools, relax in the warm waters, and rejuvenate after a day of hiking and climbing.
Late Afternoon: Departure
Begin your return journey, arriving back in Nairobi or Naivasha in the late afternoon with memories of an adventurous yet relaxing
