Sand River Masai Mara is a luxury tented camp located in the quitter southeastern corner of the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, close to the Tanzania boarder. The camp is situated on the banks of sand river, which is shallow and easily forded by herds of wildebeest during the annual migration. The camp can be accessed by either road or air. From Nairobi to Masai Mara is an estimated distance of 250km taking around 5-6 hours by road while flying takes 45 min, landing at Keekorok Airstrip followed with a 15min transfer.
The camp comprises of 16 tented accommodations including one family tent, each divided into two separate but adjoining campsites, with each area possessing its own designated dinning and public areas. Each tent features 4 poster bed, arm chairs, wooden, chest, bedside tables, lambs, full length mirror, and a bench, sofa, a writing desk, coffee table, an en suite bathroom tastefully designed with a free-standing bathtub, dual-sink vanity, shelf, towel rack and an outdoor shower.
Sand river Masai Mara offers exceptional game-viewing at its elegantly furnished communal lounge which is perfectly positioned wit picture square Mara plains. Guests can take a rest over a shaded chair on the deck and page lazily through a book from the well stoked library or get to sip a chilled vintage from the superbly stocked wine cellar.
Masai Mara is a world renown National reserve that offers great wildlife and Safari experience. The Mara has the so called “Big Five” Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Lion and Rhinoceros -througout the year. The “Big Nine” include Zebra, Cheetah, Giraffe and Hippo.
