Lake Baringo is a freshwater lake located in west-central Kenya, in the Great Rift Valley. It is the most northern Great Rift Valley lake after Lake Turkana. The lake is fed by several rivers flowing from Mau Hills & Tugen Hills; The Molo, Perkerra 7 Ol Arabel with no outlet. The lake is in a remote hot dusty area with over 50 species of birds, including migrating flamingos. A goliath herony is located on a rocky islet in the lake known as Gibraltar.
Thee lake is habitat to seven water fish species and home to Hippopotomus, nile crocodile and other mammals. The lake has several small islands with the largest beig Ol Kokwe Island, also several hot springs and fumaroles are found.
