Tsavo West National Park is located in Kenya Coast Province Taita-Taveta County. The park features are more mountainous and wetter with swamps, Lake Jipe, and the Mzima Springs. It is known for bird life and for its large mammal’s e.g. black rhino, Cape buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Hippo, and Masai lion. There are also other smaller animals that can be spotted in the park, such as the bush baby, hartebeest, lesser kudu, and Maasai giraffe

HIGHLIGHT TINERARY

DAY1: NAIROBI- VOI

Arrive at Nairobi train terminus to catch the 8 am train to Mombasa alighting at Voi train station. You'll be met by our driver guide who will transfer you to the lodge arriving in time for Lunch. After lunch proceed to the park for an afternoon game drive in the park. A variety of animals can be seen including Leopard, Cheetah, Zebra, Lion, Wild dogs, Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant, Giraffe, Crocodiles, Mongoose, Hyrax, Dik-dik, Lesser Kudu, Nocturnal Porcupine and many more.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge/ camp.

DAY2: TSAVO WEST

Have a morning or evening game drive. Rest of the day at leisure.Lunch, Dinner, and overnight at the lodge/camp.

DAY3: TSAVO WEST- NAIROBI

After breakfast, get ready and check out for the transfer to Voi train station to catch the train back to Nairobi arriving in the evening.

Requirements when traveling from Nairobi to Tsavo National Park using SGR

1. Your personal identification card/Passport- This will be required during train check-in at Nairobi SGR terminus. This will also be needed when checking in on your return trip from Tsavo at Voi SGR station. For Non-residents, you will require a valid passport when entering the SGR.

2. Clothing- The weather at Tsavo National Park is warm, therefore you do not need to carry heavy clothes. You might need a sun hat if your face is sensitive to hot sun.

3. Train Tickets- It is advisable to have your tickets purchased in advance. When booking your Tsavo Safari with Olanka Safaris, you get your e-tickets sent to you early before the travel dates. When you get to the SGR, you easily print using the ticket booth which takes less than 5 minutes with a normal passenger queue. Upon booking, you will get two tickets, one to Tsavo and one for return from Tsavo to Nairobi.

4. Keeping time- Our Safari from Nairobi starts exactly at 8 am without delay. It is therefore important to be at the SGR station in Nairobi for Tsavo National Park at least 1 hour earlier to avoid last-minute rash which can cause inconvenience.
