Tana River is a county in the former Coastal Province of Kenya. It is named after the longest river in Kenya, Tana River. Apart from the river there are several seasonal rivers such as the Galana, which flows in a west-East direction from Kitui and Makueni counties, draining in tana River and finally the Indian Ocean.
